Heritage Trees Protection Tookit

Now Available: Legislative Tools for Heritage Tree Protection

After many months of research and revision by Barbara Heidenreich of the OHTA, this component of the Toolkit is now available as a pdf file on this site by clicking on the link Legislative Tools. Please send queries and comments to Barbara Heidenreich.

The Heritage Trees Protection Toolkit: Progress Report is still available by clicking on the link above. This will take you to the complete article concerning the significant progress that was made on the preparation of all the toolkit components, and especially on designing forms for nominating and evaluating candidate heritage trees. Within this article are links to each of six forms of these tools and the guidelines for their use.

Test site information from Simcoe County and Elora contributed to the preparation of these draft instruments. Insights based on their experiences in nominating, evaluating and dedicating trees for protection can be obtained from David Pearl (Simcoe County) and from Toni Ellis (Elora).
